Ben Twyman picked up his 18th win in this event stopping
Daryl’s clock at 16.18 which is respectable given that he competed in the Taupo
Half-Ironman Triathlon (ended up being a Duathlon) over the weekend. So the
sub-16 is still waiting to be nailed.
In second place and improving with every race was Theo Wordsworth
who finished with a PB of 16.29. Tonight’s race was his third in this event this so there is plenty
of potential there.
Some way back in 3rd place was Will Critchlow in 17.36,
1 second better than his winning time from last week. Just imagine what he could do if he was able to
train properly.
In the ladies grade Lucy Lawlor improved dramatically on her
2nd place last week to score her first ever win in this event. Her time of 20.33 was a PB to boot which shows
that perseverance pays off.
In second place in 21.14 was Sarah Fountain. Last week she
was 1st, so it would be fair to say
that Sarah did not have a good day. There is always next week.
Bex Hutchinson repeated her 3rd place last week
with another bronze tonight. Her time of 21.41
is a PB, 5 seconds better than last week - so she will be pleased. Improving times takes time for everyone and
this is evident when you see how Bex has progressed from running around 24/25
minutes a couple of years ago to 22/21 minutes in 2017.
No I haven’t forgotten. In the
Critchlow/Thompson Challenge, WC had a clear victory over BT. I am wondering when Brendon is going to fire-up
because he has a quicker time than Will
for this event and at the beginning of the current series they dead-heated. I wouldn't write off Brendon but Will seems to have the bit between his
teeth which is coming through in the results.
Ben, is Sam Twyman a relative of yours? |
