"Throw away your 10-function chronometer, heart-rate monitor with the computer printout, training log, high-tech underwear, pace charts, and laboratory-rat-tested-air-injected-gel-lined-mo-tion-control-top-of-the-line footwear. Run with your own imagination." - Lorraine Moller

The cool and relatively calm conditions enjoyed by runners
contributed to the fast times posted across the various events including a terrific
2.22.42 (Course record) by Dan Lowry in the Marathon and 67.08 by Nick Earl in the Half-Marathon. In short previous record fell like tenpins..
Alice Mason who has done a lot of
running in Wellington managed to fend off a determined challenge from masters
legend Sally Gibbs to claim the women’s NZ Marathon title in a time of 2.48.36 (Course record).
The men’s championship title went to Scottish’s Stephen Day who ran the distance in a snappy
2.32.03. This time would put him well up there for his age group for 2017
performances.
Ruby Muir continues to impress hitting the Half Marathon finish line in 77.40 (Course record) to become the first female to finish. This placed her 13th overall out of field of
1018. Muir is clearly a running star.
