Ben Twyman returned to the start line after a week's absence and went to the front straight away weaving his way between the mass of pedestrians and cyclist which is a feature of this unfriendly course. The head wind on the way back produced slow times overall although young Nikolai Allen (Trentham United) ran a personal best for 3rd place behind Twyman and Bert Prendergast. This could auger well for Allen in next month's National Secondary Schools Road Race in Whanganui where he has a good chance of a top finish . Also fronting up for the first time since his return from his regular UK break was the amazing Michael Browne. .
