Sometimes you just have to be there to witness these things. Tonight Nelsonian, Julian Matthews and 2014 Commonwealth Games 1500 representative clocked a sizzling 14.38 to take 3 seconds off the previous course record set by by Hamish Carson in 2013. This is a terrific time given the stiff breeze and normal waterfront congestion.
Second fastest was Levente (Levi) Timar who crossed the line in 16.07. This was his first appearance in this event for 2 years. Ben Tyman, multiple winner in this event, was third in a time of 16,38, a full minute down on Matthews. Ayesha Shafi was the first female home in 19.13, a PB for her I believe.
Meanwhile, David Smol the Chief Executive of the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) equaled his best time of 21.40 set in August.
