In the meantime.....
I had to post this!
Despite what I thought were gusty conditions it was clear
that some good times were going to be posted when the fast men from Scottish
turned up.
So it was no surprise when the
first six stormed home in sub 16m time with winner Nick Horspool (2016 Rotorua Marathon winner) establishing a
course record of 15.11. In fact 9 out of the first 10 home ran all-time personal
bests for this particular course and the 10th ran a season's best.
.
1 15.11 NickHorspool (course record)
2 15.17

3 15.41

4 15.50
Chris McIlroy
5 15.57 BertPrendergast (wow!)
6 15.58 BenTwyman (finally)
Fighting it out for 7th and 8th place were
Malcolm Hodge (brother to the famous Tim) and the “Tawa Thunder” Andrew
Wharton. Both were credited with 16.08.
In the women’s race 3-time Kepler Challenge winner Ruby Muir confirmed her place as a class act finishing in 16.55, and establishing
a course record.
Second was well
performed Phoebe McKnight, who picked up the silver medal in the Senior Girls
6000m race at this years’ NZ Secondary Schools XC Champs.
In third place
was Nicola Hankinson who crossed the line in a time of 20.13. The last time
Nicola ran this race was in March when she picked up a 1st and a 2nd.
And just to show what a special day it was 70yo Sue Cuthbertson who was
recognised at the prizegiving for her outstanding achievement of 200 successive starts run in this event, also posted a seasons personal best with her time.
I know you want to know so here it is. In the
Critchlow/Thompson Challenge Brendon was a no-show so WC gets he point. Not
sure about running in bare feet though Will as we already have #MadHarry.
