I take my hats off to all of those athletes who turned up today and I hope you all get to go to the nationals. I'm not sure where the rest of Wellington's track athletes were this weekend bu they weren't at Newtown Park. I spent a lot of time at the discus and had the privilege of being able to listen into the positive banter amongst the competitors who ranged in age from 16 to 60 plus. I can't forget to mention Shaka Sola's positive and pithy sideline comments in support for every competitor, regardless of club. How can anybody not like Shaka or deny his extensive knowledge of throwing events?
